Apocalypse

from Albumette #1 by Melanie A. Davis

lyrics

Run away to the desert with me,
the radio man's making me weak in the knees
For it is the end so it seems

It was the stars that called our bluff,
little old man trying to be tough --
until other powers, much greater than ours,
said 'alright boys, now enough is enough'

And you look so beautiful, wrapped up in the green glow
Say we got five hours, or maybe five minutes, until it blows
Watch these pinpricks turn into saucers, then they'll show
seven billion people who never got the hint that it's time to go
Illuminated millions, all repenting with the damned,
time for the dust to be dust and the sand to be sand

Vibrations rattle our bones, but I'm not afraid cause I'm not alone
the velvet night could tear outright,
and I'd still find myself here right at home

With you and I and a dark green sky, and all our sandy kingdom
Our subjects fear us as they hear us start to sing some
melody that will be forgotten when tomorrow's here,
so sing it to me slowly, let it marinate my ears

I gotta say, the day of days with you is turning out okay
