We kept our eyes locked on the sky the whole time that summer the smell of wine and turpentine the only thing that was keeping us from going under Fields of tall grass where we’d sit on our asses talking about life and love and how the two combine Flicking hot ash on me to piss me off, but laughing through it, cause you and I both know I don’t really mind No rules or promises could stop us now, or so we thought You were just another guy, and I another girl to you, no gains no losses Tripping over rocks and boulders to a concrete island hidden away Spray painted and a little tainted with the best and the worst, the time I got kicked out; when I ran away Fields of tall grass where we’d sit on our asses talking about life and love and how the two combine Flicking hot ash on me to piss me off, but laughing through it, cause you and I both know I don’t really mind No rules or promises could stop us now, or so we thought You were just another guy, and I another girl to you, no gains no losses

Eve 04:25
I was walking through the garden by myself one summer day when a heartstoppingly handsome man walked infront of my way He said “Hey there, darlin, I’d like to walk you around and if you’d have me, I’d sure gladly parade your pretty little self around town” and that’s when I started to frown You see, his eyes were black as coal, and not of the loving kind Been down this old road before could buy a dozen of him for just one dime I says, “No I’m fine, baby, but thanks” and continued on my line He said “Hey, little darlin, little doll, won’t you let me change your mind?” Cause even the devil was an angel at one time Old Lucy himself was just a soldier that was prone to falling out of line And see now we as the chosen damned ain’t got shit to do with our idle hands so we tease around the lines until we find That often time the best things in life are just the kind old Lucy had in mind A heart that’s prone to wander ain’t no heart for me until you get a taste of fruit from off that tree and then you start to wonder deep down under your gut if this is where you’re supposed to be? The curse of man is that we can choose if we want it, being damned doesn’t sound too bad, after all everyone seems on it. Why not I? Can’t stand to let that pass me by Cause even the devil was an angel at one time Old Lucy himself was just a soldier that was prone to falling out of line And see now we as the chosen damned ain’t got shit to do with our idle hands so we tease around the lines until we find That often time the best things in life are just the kind old Lucy had in mind And his words they touched me soft, sent little goosebumps on my skin and I thought about how often in this dance I would be in so I walked out of the garden hand in hand with villain old for even the sun can find a glint to catch on a piece of fool’s gold And even the devil was an angel at one time Old Lucy himself was just a soldier that was prone to falling out of line And see now we as the chosen damned ain’t got shit to do with our idle hands so we tease around the lines until we find That often time the best things in life are just the kind old Lucy had in mind

Sweetheart 02:33
This here’s my sweetheart Sweet in name, but sweeter in soul Gust of cold wind in the hot August air weaving mandavillas through her hair, she’ll cast a spell on you And she much prefers the sandy earth to wrap around her fingers than golden bands and diamonds, meaningless things her image could be captured in when her canvas warps and fades She doesn’t care for the austere, more inclined to the pleasant and wild She’ll leave you with a song and a prayer that heaven could be half as mild as she, oh yes, she is my sweetheart The mortal coil wasn’t ready to bind you you ran off to where the fates call us You had no more time to waste it was all just old news to you She doesn’t care for the austere, more inclined to the pleasant and wild She’ll leave you with a song and a prayer that heaven could be half as mild as she, oh yes, she is my sweetheart

Driftoff 03:16
Where did the light go, and can I get it back somehow? Where did the light go, I don’t remember shutting it out Where does it all flow? Is there a place that I can go to retrieve my thoughts lost in the drift-off of the Ohio Because to me, well it all seems the same after a while The dark doesn’t get any darker, it just starts to feel a little less wild Less inviting than before when I wished that I knew more, bout as much as I do now Where did the light go? Just yesterday could have sworn they were on Till you let me know that I couldn’t be anymore wrong Where did my mind go? Moved pretty fast for taking it slow Swept up and lost in the drift-off of the Ohio Because to me, well it all seems the same after a while The dark doesn’t get any darker, it just starts to feel a little less wild Less inviting than before when I wished that I knew more, bout as much as I do now

Black Hole 02:54
Today I thought if I squeezed myself hard enough, would I pop into a black hole never quite seen above us? Yes I think that's where this old girl wants to go To take off to a world untouched by twisted guts and shaking hands cause all that's there, is all enough with space to breathe and room to grow Till then I'll be swimming in the spaceways a lonely ship without a map And all the stars shimmering in their own ways fall through my hair and down my back Today I thought if I squeezed myself hard enough, would I pop into a black hole? Maybe then I'd learn to stop the fire before it eats more thanI could ever save A pistol prone to targeting itself barrel blown only sufferer as well and all that it took was the wrong day Till then I'll be swimming in the spaceways a lonely ship without a map And all the stars shimmering in their own ways fall through my hair and down my back
